lookin good so far. keep up the good work, lay down some scenery and ur good to go. check out monsterrailroad on youtube. that guy has alot of neat stuff on his layout

Hey, at least you've got a layout up and running. :) Looks like a nice little layout. You'll want to expand, add more track and scenery, and spend wads of money if you really get into the hobby. :)

yea i know but the wife is keep tight rains on my spending on it so its a slow process, still trying to figure out whee to start on sceanery. I been trying to get to hobby shop for a week went today they had closed miss it by 10 min grrr.im going to pick up couple more buildings, stuff to make some trees and some ground cover and ballast. I'll be there at 9 am today to pick it up and get some time in on it this weekend.I'm so hooked on this hobby. I can see a n scale in my computer room in the house soon lol.

I try to get a little something out of each paycheck, like maybe a turnout or some more track. As long as I keep it small, the missus doesn't say too much.

i got the turnout I needed today along with a box car and some ballast, and some stuff to start the ground cover.I'm having trouble with ballast ,I use the foam road bed stuff and im having a hard time getting the ballast to stick to the side and caint get a spray bottle to spray glue.it shots a stream not a mist. Any ideas here thanks.

im wondering if it is too thick it sprays a good mist with water in it could i need to water it down more it is mixed 50/50 white glue and water

I know there's a link some where for this but maybe a little BS will work

OK
First mix some white glue 50/50 with water

(1) put your ballast in place, then mist it with pure water very light spray so as not to knock the ballast out of place. Fix up any damage you've done with the spray bottle.
Note: some people use an alcohol/water mix for wetting the ballast, I dont

(2) Using an eye dropper (I use a nasal spray bottle ) and dribble the glue along the center of tracks. Capillary action causes the glue to distribute itself wherever the ballast is wet.

(3) go to bed and leave it alone and it'll all be solid in the morning.

Any device that will let you apply drops or very small stream of glue/water mix will do the job. Don't try to spray the glue it'll make a heck of a mess to clean up.

Cheers
Willis

i watched a video on youtube and try that way seems to work pretty good I'm using the glue bottle to drop the glue. I'll post some pics later. I think it looks ok for my frist time.

I can tell you what I think. I think if you are having fun and it is relieving stress then you are doing a great job in the relaxing , enjoying part of life. That is what is good. As for the scenery, it is looking good and you are learning a lot from this lifelong hobby. Like most of us, what you do now will more or likely change in a few years any way.

I have changed my layout 3 times and it is going to be 4 times this weekend since I started rebuilding it 4 months ago. Keeps me very relaxed and my creative side of me busy. Sure beats hanging out in the Bars.

Learned something today i bought the ws water kit that you heat up well i heated it up and poured it in and guess what it melted the foam board. I felt like a total idiot so now i got to fix that. Was a good leason.

Man I have been there before. I did it and it went on the carpet and well to say the least the wife was not real happy. Carpet has been replaced since then and I now have a canvas drop cloth that I put on the floor while doing anything on the layout. There are other products out there that do not require you heating it up. It dries a lot slower but is safe for foam. I have found that the heated pellets after a period of time the water will crack in areas. The other products ( I believe is Magic Water) don't seem to do that. Woodland scenics has a liquid water also that you do not have to heat. Try them, they should work fine

I had the same problem. Your mixture is too thick. I think you need to dilute it more. Honestly I just buy the woodland scenics stuff. I know I'm a sucker for that but it is just way less frustrating.
