New to the forum, building a mini layout in HO

Hi everybody,
I am new to the forum, I am building a hopefully beautiful and detailed mini layout in HO for my dad who has a rather big but minimalist layout in H0.
I have experience in modelism, but less so in railroad modelism.
hope i'll find some ideas here :)
