Dang, what an upgrade! Wish I could go O sometimes, but that space constraint is a killer, so props for being able to convince the wife. To reiterate what some others on the forum mentioned, be aware of those corner tunnels. In the event of a derail, you could be screwed. Do you have a story in mind for the layout?

To reiterate what some posted earlier, reach will be a problem with this layout even if you have access from all four sides. Of course you could do what my Dad did and just put it on the floor and walk in to re-rail trains.

It would probably be wise to keep it around 3 feet, but if you think you can stretch it, then go for it. After all, it is your railroad, do what you want! Just giving you some things to think about in the planning stage.

Thank you for your in-site... Back to the drawing board.. What would be the best for reach wise try and keep it 24" -36" deep?
Part will depend on the layout height. At 36" high, I find that my maximum reach is between 32" and 36". Using a step-ladder allows further reach, but then I am leaning on scenery/structures. What you have pictured, has some areas of over 8', a hard reach for anyone.
