I seriously doubt they'd do that. Send them an email asap though telling them you cant read.or reset that one CV in order to reset the decoder.
At worst, your looking at sending it off to them or a Dcc repair shop.
Lastly, ill be home Sunday, and between football and family, ill get on my nce and put my atlas gold/qsi and see if I can't help you. Sometimes seeing it is easier.
OK...one more time...I got it working again, saw that I had somehow turned the DC off. After more reading thru the manual (like I should have done) I think I finally have it figured out now. I got my 2nd unit fired up on the test track along with the first one and was able to run them both separately. I unplugged it and so now I think it is all good. Now I might take the leap of hooking it up to the layout and try it out, and if it works then I will see about running em both as a consist, 1 as a lead unit and the other as a tail end remote on my double stack train!! Wish me luck!!
BTW...what is CV56? The 2nd unit I didnt do anything with the CV's, I just left em set from the factory till I get a better handle on things, and while it still runs...
Both units are the same Atlas gold 8-40's w/ QSI...the only DCC loco's I have at the moment...
Lot's of "learn by doing" going on in here, perhaps a little too much! Good that you're turning to the manual though.
The LOC or CON that BigB mentioned is to do with consisting. If it says LOC in the top right hand corner of your PowerCab display then you're controlling a single locomotive. If it says CON, it thinks that loco is in a consist. The errors you were getting definitely suggest that has somehow happened, or the PowerCab thinks it has at any rate. If you're trying to set up consists yourself, check the decoder documentation to see what types can be used. The error message you mentioned earlier is for an old style of consist, you want to be using "advanced consisting" if possible.
Lastly, if you need to clear a consist completely for whatever reason, hit the CLEAR button near the bottom left corner of the PowerCab and type in the CONSIST address (not the loco address, they're different). The PowerCab will automatically assign the first consist you create an address of 127, then 126, then 125, etc.. I think there's also a way to browse the consists saved on the PowerCab but I'm not sure how, never had to do it. Keep in mind when clearing a consist that all the locos of that consist need to be on the track when you do it. Any locos that aren't won't get the message, and when you try to run them next they'll still think they're in that consist and likely won't behave properly. Got caught out by that a couple of times myself.
Qsi decoders are definitely one that you want to read the manual. In fact, they caution you to do just that. So if you get the engine running, don't consist with it. Put it up for a bit and read the qsi manual.
Also read the NCE powercab manual. It's not that big and relatively straightforward esp after you start using the throttle a bit.
First things first. Is the track clean? Are the wheels clean? Programming, whether on the main or PG track, requires good contact between the wheels and rails and the action of this loco seems to confirm something's dirty.
It does sound like you've got it into a consist mode. Are there any Modelers in your area? Do they use DCC and do they have JMRI? If so they could probably straighten this out for you in about 3 minutes or less.
