New Layout

Just kinda moving along , sometimes I don’t know where I’m going with an area until it just kind of evolves on its own.

@Lynnb

I meant to add that it is nice to now I am not the only one who tends to get a little lost and/or don't know where I am going with something. That is where I am at now, with my rebuilding and expanding of my old little once upon a time DC test layout.
I think that's what makes this hobby so interesting, especially if your not moddeling a particular area, just having a basic concept of an idea and letting your imagination run with it to see where it leads you.

Tony I’ve learned over time when I get a bit lost and uncertain what I want to do it is better to just do something and see where it goes and if I don’t like the outcome I can always change add or remove .

Yes absolutely true, the problem or lack of problem with modelling a certain area is your final destination is already made up for you, where as if you let your imagination take you , the journey can if nothing else teach you what you like and enjoy.

Here’s a couple part pics after I applied ground goop and ground fall materials, I wanted just to get the messy part done for now and will add trees and shrubs later.

Been busy working on a bunch of small buildings including my latest Bar Mills Wicked Wanda’s. I need a wack of smaller buildings for a specific area I’m planning to put a river down the centre, this part of the layout inside the red . I plan on or thinking about removing the rail and putting a river down the centre bottom to top and buildings on both sides. These are pics of the structures I’ve been working on , just finishing Wicked Wanda’s.

Lynn,
May I ask how thick and long your lower wooden beams are for your bridges, ( they look about 1/4”)? Do you find that bridges sag with the weight of engines…..debating building mine?
Almost all my open bridges I use 12x12 Ho scale , the span will very depending on which bridge , I’m not exactly sure which bridge you are referring to as I have quite a few, never enough bridges. I use a template I bought for the open bridges and the closed bridges are kits, I think I built the one truss bridge with the kit and scratch built the other using the jig that came with it. The Trestle bridges are both scratch built using the jig I made up but I did at one time build the 3’ curved trestle with the Campbells kit. I use a couple books and follow wood sizes as directed. Must have is the Ho scale ruler, set of calipers and the bridge book. Hope this helps , open for questions.
