How's the layout doin' - hmm interesting question ....

Umm, not so good at the moment ...... hence the planned "new improved" layout that is more or less in the works. Oh and yeah, I am ashamed of the mess as well. I have sooo much stuff that I don't know what I have Under that disaster IS a small test layout that I built for something to do - mainly for the structures and scenery than anything. I might dig it out and incorporate it in the new if I can - who knows, ask me again next week

A bit of an update that I forgot to mention , I got the leds and buttons installed and ds64’s reprogrammed to proper numbers .

I used these leds and buttons as well as these led holders , the plastic caps are a bit long but the hold the led in place well enough.

Once I was happy I removed all the lites buttons etc I started finishing off the fascia on the layout in both rooms and primed and painted black satin, three coats did the job.

Ok this is my fun day , I’ve decided the IM Dunn structure will be the best suit for the new track area. I cut out the foam board so the structure will sit down and I’ll have to add a support under the structure and find a length of roadbed to go from the bridge to the structure coal dump track.

A bit more rough work done . Both cross members installed , one for structure support and the other for a couple risers for the coal dump track roadbed. Lots of trials

Well, I did dig my old test layout up from beneath all that "junk" that was on top if it and BINGO - stuck a DC Kato F7 on it (no cleaning or anything) and away she went good as gold, well a bit jerky for the first lap of each track but after that - it was up UP and AWAYYYYYYYY!!

You know something though Lynn, now I'd really like to incorporate that old test track into the new layout ... hmmm

The test track as in program track ? You can drop a program track any where you want off the mainline once you’re ready. That Track going to my Turn table doubles as a program track , all that’s needed is a dpdt toggle and insulators on each end of a length of track.

Ahh, nope a test track as in a 3 track little layout about 6 or so feet long and 3 feet wide I just called it a test track because that was all it was suppose to be when I started it; however, I got a bit carried away It sits pretty much in the middle of the bench work ,,,,,,,,,,,,

You can't see it due to the junk, but the town area is stepped from the road toward the back wall - it really was pretty neat when I first did it all.
