Thank you for accepting me. I model in HO, have a ISL centered around a PaperMill based on parts of mills along the Wisconsin River in Central Wisconsin. I operate the layout using the ESU CabControl system and Protothrottles. I model the year 2015 and and equipment run on the layout that is only purchased if I have a picture of the rolling stock or locomotive. While I am not a true prototype modeler it has shaped my modeling by picking a year and following it. I am located near Madison, Wisconsin and 5 miles from my LHS. TomO

Thank you. Looking forward to some discussions and sharing ideas.

Hey!
I was just walking by and thought I heard someone say paper mill?
Oh we’re going to get along just fine!
Great industry to model, it has the biggest variety of freight car types and loads overall.
Welcome to the funhouse!

Rico and Mike, thanks for the welcome. I am happy to be here. The Paper Mill, Rico, is a passion. Visited quite a few PM’s along the Wisconsin River and the hundreds of pictures taken were on a lost external hard drive during our retirement move. This is the machine end of the PM. The bleach plants, another Digestor, tanks and shipping areas are around the corner. TomO

Mike. The ProtoThrottle is by far the absolute best thing I have ever purchased for my layout. It truly was a game changer for me and has converted my wife into occasionally operating the layout with me. You start to feel in control of the locomotive and after 15-30 minutes the operator stops looking at the controller, it’

s very intuitive to use. The best operator of it was the 6 year old grandson who has been using it for 18 months. He is now a slot car guy! That will change. Here is the other 1/2 of the mill.

You're new here, but not to the hobby !! I really like your work. The low relief structs are really convincing, too ...

Wow! Awesome! Very nice! I really like what you have going on there with the paper mill! I am a fellow Wisconsinite! I lived in Waukesha County from 1974 to 1985 in a small town called Eagle 20 miles west of Milwaukee, North West of North Prairie but it's not so small of a town now. I almost went to Madison University...I played football in high school then went briefly to Whitewater University and played there but ended up in Florida and chose not to play football anymore. It was good decision lol. Any how we all look forward to your post and hanging out with us here! Welcome!

TLOC: Welcome to the Forum from a fellow Wisconsinite. I still live in Waukesha county near the former "Bug Line".

Since we have a cabin in Central Wisconsin we had traveled to Nekoosha Edwards on the Wisconsin River many times and driven around the paper mills. Also, visited the paper mills near Appleton in "Paper Valley". Nice work done on your paper mills.

Alcomotive: I know Eagle, Wisconsin very well and used to go to a small tavern there for great burgers and fries. I also remember the corner bar and grill that had hitching posts for the visiting horse riders I think it was called Sasoon's??? A former employee under my supervision was hired as the Late Shift Police Officer for Eagle several years ago.

I used to drive to Whitewater when it was then a college before it became a University to visit a girlfriend and I also was an honorary member of a Whitewater Frat house.

Keep us posted on your work.

Greg

Thank you Greg and Sherrel.

My wife and I are very familiar with the Nekossa area. Friday night was casino night for us and basically anything Hwy 54 north in Wisconsin was my sales territory. We moved from the Lake DuBay/Mosinee/Knowlton at the 2014 retirement to outside of Madison. A complete world change. I lost in retirement my external hard drive of photos I took of and for my trains. Many hundreds of paper mill photos are gone,

so now I model from memory and Google Earth. Thank you for the welcome.

With today's technology I would be willing to bet someone out there can retrieve those files you lost on the external hard drive. Forensic rehab of hard drives is big business nowadays. Maybe you still have the drive and can inquire around.?
