New Bachmann Schnabel Car?

ModelRailroadForums.com is a free Model Railroad Discussion Forum and photo gallery. We cover all scales and sizes of model railroads. Online since 2002, it's one of the oldest and largest model railroad forums on the web. Whether you're a master model railroader or just getting started, you'll find something of interest here.

There's been an extensive thread on the Atlas forum recently, including many photos of one on a fellow's layout who did get one. The model appears to be very well detailed from the photos.

Thats where i heard about it too

Maybe josh (trucklover) knows something about them?

Given the only other source for a non-brass one:

I'd say the Bachmann one is a good deal (prices above are for unpainted kits... with no wheels, trucks or couplers...)

I'm gonna get one of the Bachmann units if my current Ebay bids fall through...

Okay, time to drag this thread back to life!
Definately planning to grab one of these puppies, I've already found them preordering for under MSRP:D

I plan on getting the new bachmann model even though it doesnt match anything prototype. My distributor has then for $112.50 which isnt a bad deal for a car like this.

Bachmann apparently released plastic schnabnel car with load based on a chinese prototype with transformer load. Any ideas when this will be in the US for sale? Theres 3 on Ebay but does anyone know if the prices will ever come down, i could justify maybe under $100 (i know not likely  ) but $140 for one car is alittle to much for me.

Dont forget to add the $30 shipping which brings the car to $170

I bought one of the Chinese models and I was impressed with it. This unit appears similar, but perhaps from an older era? The one I have has CCTV cameras placed throughout the car, along with generators and A/C units on the cabins. The only drawback IMO us the Chinese lettering....

But!!!! BE YE WARNED!!!!! 32 axles is nothing to take lightly. On the sharper curves of my club layout, the left side of the load swings across the right side rail, and blocks the curved siding. Also, a few bridges have VERY close clearance... (So close I have to guide the load through by hand)

Mark that is a smokin' price compared to the list!
Do you figure they might come out sooner than Nov?

side note* I was just East of Winnipeg today and discovered they are laying temporary track from the CN mainline along the floodway to a new Hydro Electric station. That can only mean one thing... Schnabel!!

Yeah it's close but not quite right for the NA version, the load sits much higher than it would on the real thing.
Still a cool car, the wheel arrangement is much better than the Chinese one, but missing some of the detail.
All the same... put me down for one as well Mark if you'd please!

These are way cool. I love unusual stuff like this. Plus it looks like it is really nice from the pix I have seen. I want one! :D
