I have a L shaped layout that is 11'6" x 4' on the long leg, 8' x 4'8" on the short leg. Does anyone know of any good track plans for this size?

I came across this in another post the other day.

I think it is a great read, and will help you understand that only YOU can design YOUR layout. There are plenty of folks on here that would love to help you REFINE your design. But just asking for any layout to fit a space is WAY too open-ended.

There's nothing magical to designing a layout. All you need is a piece of paper, ruler, and a compass. Many fine layouts have been designed with only these tools. Of course there are other things out there to assist you, like templates, computer programs, etc, but none of them is manditory.

I'm definitely not trying to dissuade you from persuing model trains. They're a great hobby, and folks are here to help. I'm just hoping to focus your energy a bit. :)

What sort of operation do you have in mind? A loop for continuous running or an industrial switching layout? Do you plan to run short small trains like you'd find on a branch line or the latest 6 axle diesels for mainline railroading? What era and geographical location do you plan to model? All of these questions can help you to design your layout. Go check: http://macrodyn.com/ldsig/wiki/index.php?title=Category:Primer for some great advice on layout design.

My layout is about the same size as yours. Here's a pic

What ever you do, make sure you consider the reach across the corner. Mine is WAY too big to reach across and I had to cut in a pop up.
