I've just received a new CAB04p in the mail today any really looking forward to getting it up and running in conjunction with my NCE PowerCab on some test track... but I am having some issues. Let me walk through the steps I have followed in the supplied manual.

Firstly I have a PowerCab which works successfully. I have a loco on the track with a long decoder address of '131'. This loco works perfectly with the main PowerCab hand controller.

SETTING UP THE CAB04 ADDRESS

1. While holding SELECT LOCO on the CAB04 I plug in the cable to the PCP panel.

2. I release SELECT LOCO on the CAB04 (now entered internal setup mode)

3. Press '1' (now entered cab address setup mode)

4. Entered '11' and ENTER (this has now set this cab controller to address 11, right?)

SETTING UP THE CAB04 TO 'YARD MODE'

1. Unplug the CAB04 from the front panel.

2. While holding SELECT LOCO on the CAB04 plug in the cable to the PCP panel again.

3. I release SELECT LOCO on the CAB04 (now entered internal setup mode)

4. Press '2' to enter YARD or NORMAL select mode (LED flash rate slows down)

5. Press '1' for YARD mode.

So at this point I have set the CAB04 controller to address '11' and in YARD mode. I assume that's all I need to program?

So now I press SELECT LOCO *but the LED does not light* I enter the Loco address (131) and press ENTER. But nothing happens. I assume that because the LED did not come one when I pressed SELECT LOCO that it is not going to accept a keypad input.

Have I missed a step here? I would appreciate any help on this.

Cheers,

You're correct, a stock decoders are address 3 untill an actual cab number or other number is assigned.
A little late I know but I just came across your thread!
