I need names for my Pax cars. I have 12 cars that are going to be the Eastern Pacific Pineapple Express (I usually call it the Pineapple for short).
So what I have is an RPO car, 5 coaches, Dining Car, Dome car, 3 sleepers, and an observation car. Its kind a cobbled train...otherwise I'd have more sleepers and less coaches.
I have names for the Diner and Dome cars, and for two of the sleepers I was going to use Snoqualmie Pass and Pengra Pass. I was thinking of Pipestone Pass for the other sleeper, but I dont know.
The Eastern Pacific is of course my own amalgamation of Milwaukee Road and Southern Pacific. Anything is game, and I want each car to be named.
Thanks!
How about Breakheart Pass after the movie of the same name?
I Named this car after my wife's Grandfather a grand old gentleman I learned to love and respect, the car number represents his year of birth.

I assume you would rather not use "Annie" and "Clarabelle"?

You can also use Stampede Pass, Mullan Pass on your sleepers.
"Cascade View" for the obs car
"Tacoma" "Seattle" "Billings" for some of the coaches
"Puget Sound" for the diner
I don't think RPO's generally got names. You could, I guess name it "Costner" for his role in "The Postman" set in the Pacific Northwest.
Stampede Pass and Mullan Pass are on the competitor's system (BNSF and MRL), so they would not quite be game...
I've thought of using city names, but I was worried it'd be too corny. I think I will use smaller town names from around the Tacoma area. (Puyallup, Carbonado, Electron) and the like on the coaches.
The dome car and the tail car are in the running for the same name,
and I have an additional tail car I may yet do. I am leaning toward the dome car getting the name (best friend).
The diner I know will be named "Thomas A. Hoover" for a VERY good friend that was very influential in my formative years that died a couple years ago. He was the best cook ever.
Thanks for the push along the road I was sort of heading down anyway!
town names are great for the coaches and the sleepers could be for cites or past presidents of the railroad/founders, something along those lines

For the coaches how about: Moe Howard, Louis Fienberg, Jerome Lester Horwitz, Samuel Horwitz, and Joseph Wardell?
A dome car isn't a type in the sense you are talking about here. There can be dome coaches, dome sleepers, dome lounges, dome observations, dome diners, dome dorm/cafe, etc.

Are all three sleepers the same type? If not they would probably have different series names.
Haha, I wasnt going to get THAT detailed with it. I was going to worry about that with the numbers!
These cars dont have interiors (the dome has the upper level seating, which is pretty cool) so I wasnt that concerned about it. These are old rivarossi/AHM cars that I am going to repaint and rework the coupler system. I have already put new metal wheelsets under them, so if anybody needs those old pizza-cutter wheels drop me a PM.
The other thing that I am going to do is to have 2 coaches and one Obs. car be a separate train, with the equipment rotating out as I randomly wish. It's going to be fun to have my own custom passenger cars that match my already custom painted PA's and F's!
One car needs to be the "Columbia River" seeing as you see it every day!
Yeah No kidding. I'm leaning toward rivers for the coaches and passes for the sleepers.

Hmmm, if you aren't going to use Gandy Dancer's suggestion to use the three stooges than I will. I wonder what other names are out there that could be used in subtly in sets like that. James Doohan ... Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. ... Denver Pyle ... Bob Denver ....
What I did on my train in N scale for TMR is my coaches are rivers, Domes are Mountains, obs cars are names for important people in my life, and the power car, diner etc, all have random names. Also, the numbers on my engines all mean something special for example my 2 GP30's are #11 and #28 (my birthday 11/28) and my SD9 is 3420 (the address of the house i grew up in)
