Recently I received 4 boxcars in the mail from a modeler in Austin, Texas. They came equipped with horn hook couplers and had not a lick of weathering. Now, anybody who knows me knows that I couldn't leave them in that state. I'm posting two photos of each model. The first is before weathering , the second is after.
I took the toothbrush after this one.
I really like how that last Cotton Belt came out. It's seen some grimy dirt railways.

Jeffrey, I like how that weathering toned down the color of the paint. What are you using again?
Pure black acrylic paint mixed with alcohol. The ratio isn't important, just a little paint to a lot of alcohol.
Yeah, that's some very effective fading on those cars. The Cotton Belt one is a little blotchy looking for my taste but it still looks good compared to that shiny plastic.

that last one sure says i've been staying out west in the extrem sun all my life. I love it.
