Modelrailroader magazine has just changed it's "Trackside photos" policy. It has now become, " diversity run amuck " ! Only one HO picture will be featured in each issue. There will be one picture each for HO, N, Z, S, O, and what they call LARGE. So your odds of ever getting your HO layout picture featured in their mag has just become astronomical. Why bother sending them anything.

Well, not to be snarky, but I guess that will be good news for those not in HO? :p I like seeing what the fellas in Z and S scales are doing. HO is easy stuff...I know 'cuz I'm in it. N and Z...now there's some real challenges for a guy who's 56.

Seriously, you lose nothing by sending in the best you have to offer. If it is that good, it'll be picked, even if it takes 12 months to make it to the front of the line.

There's truth in that, however, where as 4 or 5 modeler in HO and N were featured in the past, now only one each. Where as you might have seen your work in 12 months, it will now take 4 or 5 years ! Also I've seen much better pictures from modeler on this forum then what they show every month. This must be one guys opinion. There is a lot of similarity in the shots that are picked. No diversity there.

Gee, wonder if Lou Sassi and Paul Dolkos will now feature the other scales in their monthly photos in Trackside Photos? These MR paid photographers seem to have a major lock on these photos. Great photographers they are, but there sure could be some diversity.

From just what did you draw such a conclusion? I can't find any indication of such in the December issue.

If you are basing this on what appears in the December TP, the fact is that displaying examples of each of the various scales has been more or less a tradition with the December issue of the magazine for many years. I fully expect Trackside Photos in the January issue to return to the usual inclusion of mainly HO, with the occasional N scale example or two.

After reading the intro, I see that you are correct. I am glad to be wrong. Thank you for that correction. I have been waiting a long time for my submitted photos, and I indeed, over reacted.

Larry, it's tough to sit and wait around when you have to look at photos in MR that you know aren't as good as yours but sometimes it seems like getting published is like winning the lottery...unless you're guys like Bob mentioned. :) NYW&B is right, of course. MR has done a Trackside Photo of one of each gauge (although I think large scale is a fairly recent edition) for years now. Think the holiday season and helping retailers to sell trains. Any kind of trains. :D
