About to detail my SD70M-2, including adding an antenna dome. One thing I've noticed, regardless of the loco model or road name or color scheme, these domes always appear to be white. I can't find a good pic of my prototype showing if its dome is a different color, other than to see that it has one. Are they ever painted, or is the white a special cover material that won't interfere with signal transmission, and shouldn't be painted?

The plastic in the dome is transparent to radio signals, and paint would interfere. Also, the white color reflects heat, so the Sun doesn't cook the components.

I make mine out of squares of white styrene with the edges beveled. This is one of my homemade PTC arrays.
