Milwaukee Bandit MP15AC, why bandit?

anyone can answer as to why milwaukee bandit scheme is called a "Bandit"?

and to keep this more interesting, some pictures - didn't want to clog the weekly thread with tons of pictures so i will do it in here.

this was not a planned photo session but rather a quick and spontaneous one. shot under ordinary fluorescent lighting, no diffusers nor anything special. all PP is limitied to crop and auto WB in Lightroom.
comments and suggestions on technique are welcome.

'Bandit' refers to the black patches over the Milwaukee Road lettering and numbers. Nice modeling. Is that the finished product or do you plan more weathering?

actually this is how it comes from athearn so the credit if any goes to them. i plan on painting the patch as pictured and probably renumbering (if i gather enough courage).

They are actually SOO Bandits. They bought a lot of the old Milwaukee Road roster and painted over the Milwaukee Road logos and cab numbers with some very cheap black paint that seemed to fade, chip and peel off, thus leaving the bandit look.

Like a previous poster stated it is because of the paint patches. When the SOO bought the Milw, they applied this paint job to various locos,, such as gp-40, gp 38-2,, sd10, sd 40-2 if you want to do your own,, Highball graphics makes the bandit decals for such locos.

The Milwaukee Road modelers up here call them "Rotten Pumpkins"

There are still a few in service in the Chicago area. I see them now and again in that big yard I-294 passes over.

I bought one just to harass the Milwaukee Road guys at the club
