Started on my new layout today. I got some free strips of Homasote from the local club, need to get a couple more next week when we meet again. I cut them to length and screwed them down. I know they need painted, but I needed to work out track radius issues and what the little mogul can and cant handle. I can say that even on this small 55 1/2 by 34 3/4 inch table, the little tender driven mogul has no issues with the curves so far. I got the front area pretty well laid out how I want it. The little 1 stall engine house will be at the front left corner with one track outside the shed, track curves around, then as it heads back toward the right side it will be climbing to the upper level, it will come around and across the front of the table, curving around and over the lower level before starting back down to connect with the lower level at the right rear. I have one siding laid at the front right lower corner for an industry and plan a couple more as I develope the track plan further. I have one small PFM Colorado and Southern mogul and am working on aquiring a second one. I have upgraded the motor to a Maxon 7 pole coreless instead of the old open frame and MV lenses in all the lights. With the purchase of the engines and several freight and passenger car kits, the spring train budget is shot for awhile. One of the local club members is helping with the construction of the upper level and the connecting ramps. I am looking for 2 wood bridges right now, one for the upper level and one for the small dry creek bed at the front. Enjoy the pic, it was just a quicky pic, more to come as I make more progress. Nice Work! Are you going to have a loop? This is why I like narrow guage, you can build nice little scenes in a very limited space. I'm a narrow guage convert myself. Just recently went and bought a whole lot of Blackstone Models!

Hi Mike, :)

Your small-space concept is a real inspiration to this newbie. I have something similar to your layout in mind using standard HO gauge small engines, short wheelbase rolling stock, and 15 inch radius curves.

its actualy going to be a double loop, track is giong to climb upwards, cross over itself then come back down again. I am getting ready to start that part of construction soon. This was a fault of my last layout that I built on this table, it was flat and borring. Mike
