So this ...

Yep, the non-affixed frog rail came out and apparently I broke off some of the spikes which keep it secured to the ties. Rats! What to do??

Would you

A) Rip it out and replace the TO (I do have another that is yet to be installed. LHS ***may*** have one in stock to replace. If not, then mail order is 1-2 weeks, sigh).

B) Put it in with CA glue. Sounds tricky with gauge issues screaming!


Further, would you contact ME for a refund replacement or just eat it. I cannot honestly say if it was a manufacturing defect or big thumbs.

There appears to be enough of the tie plates left that the rail could be positioned properly and CA'd back in place.

CA glue - fail. Don't blame the glue it was no doubt operator error.

Good news is I took it up and replaced it with #5B I had for another place and laid down the runaround track. Then took a long way back to work via the LHS and every now and then, The Almighty smiles on me ... ... ... LHS had one #5B in stock - now they are out of stock!

I have a few ME switches that let go just like that.
I spiked some of them in place with small spikes and others I stripped down and used them as scenery.
Glad you found a replacement!

That is sort of what I would do. Drill new holes and spike into place, and/or use epoxy rather than CA.

And possibly use a NMRA Standard's Gage to help keep the track gauge where it needs to be......

I would have just used some contact cement with a track gauge - BOOM - done!
