Did a wheel swap on one & im gonna detail a few other small parts like mirrors and paint some lights and prolly call that good, maybe give it a dirty bath and call it good.

But it looks alot better even with the wheel swap.

Much nicer! I'm still looking for some of the WM & CRS trucks, I should have bought more when I saw them, now they're sold out, out here.

I like the dumpster roll offs & dump trucks. I have one of the wreckers, but the cab is not 1/87th. I was thinking about mounting the wrecker assy. on a mixer frame.

How does the WM scale out in HO?
Haven't seen one in this neck of the woods yet.
I may have to switch eras if I want to fill the roads with vehicles, modeling the 80's limits you.

Nice work on the wheel swap, but these are typically not HO scale. Most Matchbox vehicles scale out to about 1/64th. The original toys made way back in the 50's were designed to fit in the paper box, so scale varied within the line. Still, it's your railroad. I would get a Classic Metalworks truck of similar size and compare. The stake truck would work, or maybe one of those Athearn Fords. You might also try putting a true 1/87th car on the bed and see what it looks like. Wal Mart has had a pretty surprising selection of 1/87th vehicles along more modern lines for not too much money, and they should be loaded up for the Christmas shoppers.

I keep a 1/87th vehicle in my car all the time for matching up to other vehicles. I use to keep a 1/87th figure in my wallet to match up to vehicles, but that doesn't count anymore. Have you ever tried to get a true scaled figure to sit in a convertible, well, it won't work. LOL
The same thing w/semi's. Some have a nice scaled trailer w/a tiny tractor & vise versa. Yesterday at the train show I bought all of those tractor trailers & the trailers look great, but the tractors are way to small.

compared to some of the ho semis i have they are pretty close, i think with the amount of trucks and constuction stuff im going to have they will mix in just fine.

Heres a pic of a few others i grabbed, and the rollback next to a 1/87th rig and another 1/87th rollback.

Also i think if the bed on the matchbox truck was a little narrower it would look more to scale my self.

Not sure who the make of the semi rig is, but the purple rollback next to the blue rollback is a boley.

Yeah i would agree the most hotwheels and matchbox scale out close to
1/64th.

But these are no where near 1/64th scale as i have a small semi collection in that scale.

what did ya get for tractor/trailers larry??

Did you try to do something with the grill yet? It is the other eye soar besides the stock wheels

This is true, hotwheels/matchbox's trucks are closer to 1/87 scale than 1/64, even the older tractor-trailers are. Now though they are making closer to scale 1/64 tractor-trailer sets.

Most hotwheels and their sister company matchbox have the scale listed on the bottom of their vehicles now.

The question about the new working rigs trucks is not about scale but how much detail to you want to put into them

It did after I cut their legs off.......:D

Yeah I have a drawer full of arms and legs etc. from various projects, not sure how to incorporate them into the layout without getting morbid! :p

As for scale trucks, I picked up the UPS truck from Norscot and it's a wee bit bigger than HO but smaller than S. Can't put it next to a semitrailer and have it look right.

I took some photo's of the trucks I got this week at the show. I might want to sell them. There's mirrors & grab bars missing. I have some sprues w/small parts, but not enough to outfit all of'm.
The front tilts like a real tractor w/engines inside.
