My first InterMountain locomotive....... InterMountain 49760 WESTERN PACIFIC ES44AC Locomotive WP 1982 DCC w Sound. I like it and I am impressed. I got this as this is another fantasy loco but it will be deemed as a heritage unit on my layout! ;)

and then my Alco came in as I mentioned before was coming. This will be sent to a guy I know that will add LEDs lights and sound and weather this for me as he has done numerous of Alco #5s and knows what it looks like in person. He is local here where this actual unit runs a few miles from my house. ATLAS #10000029 Alco Demo S-1 Diesel Switcher #5 wKadees

Well I tested my 2 new locomotives that I previously purchased and posted.

The WP GE ES44AC ran like a champ the previous owner did a fantastic job of programing of the unit! I am very happy with the results!

The ALCO #5 well blew me over! I never have this kind of luck at all. It turns out that the previous owner alreaady installed the correct sound decoder for alco s-1 and horn etc. The whole nine yards! Unbelievable! Also installed the LEDs. I got this unit for a measly 109.92 shipping included, The loco was 94.99 with shipping 7.74 plus tax which came to 109.92! Crazy! Got it off ebay from a guy that purchased an estate sale and he sold this on ebay as a buy it now option. Sometimes I get lucky but man this one takes the cake! I will post pic on my JR's UPRR thread.

I said in the Coffee shop I'd post my new acquisition's so here they are.

Strangely, both SD45's are Bachmann Spectrum's, but they run completely different from one another, Southern runs fine, Northern like a snail, could well be the Northern needs running in, although all the detail and kadee's have been fitted, I can't find a mark on it, looks brand new, have to do a general service and run in on that one.
The GP 7 runs well, and has a very nice paint job, railings need tidying up a bit, but for what I've paid, I'm a happy bunny.:)

Last weekend I finished a work trip and ended up driving straight from the airport to a local show I knew was happening in town. Not a whole lot caught my eye, but that didn't prevent me from not walking out empty handed. I had been thinking about the recent run of Athearn tri-clops SD60s, so I picked one up. I was hoping for BN, but they were sold out, so I grabbed one in UP. That's just as well, since I don't really have any UP locomotives from the era I'm aiming at. I've only given it a quick test run, but appears nice so far. The trucks on it have already been fixed by the vendor.

Then over at a collectables table, I spotted this. I'd never seen one of these before, certainly not in this kind of condition. It's an aluminum advertising sign, intended to be mounted above a license plate on a vehicle.

The only thing I actually remember about the Katy, is being scared by the noise of steam from a switch engine while I was in the cab. Must have been in or around Miscoggi, OK, back around 1944, when I was 2 year old! Never did anything to my love of steam locomotives, however! My Dad was stationed at Camp Gruber then. Great bunch of finds.

As mentioned in the coffee shop.......big haul today!

My Union Pacific Big Boy 4-8-8-4 #4014 came in today. Feast your eyes! This has the Tsunami 2.0 Sound as well as LEDs. Very Nice!

I will post on JR's UPRR thread once I get her on the layout for a test run. It should be epic! The gentleman that I bought it from also include the flag car as well! nice! ( I already had one but still cool)

Also for my Caterpillar dealership I got (2) D9Ts for the layout! Made by Norscot and typically these run 50 bucks or more but I found these to be the last (2) at 35 bucks each so I had to buy them both! Check out the details on this machine!

include your picture and tell us about it and even give your review or reasons for obtaining the item or items

About It: Arriving on track #7, hopefully the last of the combined Super Chief, El Capitan train. cars (I say hopefully just because I can't afford anymore!). In this batch are two 4-4-2 Regal Sleepers, the PS Pleasure dome with the turquoise room, two 10-6 Pine series Sleepers, and a 36 seat diner. The dome, diner, and one each of the sleepers are the deluxe #1 version that come with lighting and figures.

Reason: I really don't know why I bought this set. I already had more than two 1950s era SuperChiefs and a full El Capitan, so in a way it is redundant. The very first Super Chief was Walther's very first "Named Train". It was done with silver paint and the 4-4-2 sleepers were incorrect windows for a Regal. They were really an "Indian" series sleeper. Anyway they re-did the set later in chrome plating and a correct 4-4-2 sleeper. I started getting that set, when they came out with the third which was the "real metal" finish. I bought that whole set. These are also that same real metal finish. Supposedly there was some new tooling in this set, but I think it is mostly advertising. Maybe they changed 1 rivet. Whatever it is, it is not a major improvement over the old. I'm guessing I'll have to put them side by side and use a magnefiying class to find the differences.

Review: I will not go to all the trouble to open the boxes for picture or review. They are standard Walther's passenger cars. They will have the same need to have the trucks lubed and tuned. They will have Protomax couplers which are just as good as Kadee so no issues there. The lighting will be just OK, but the pickups will probably need a little work and maybe some "keep alive" to eliminate flicker. Back when Walthers started the passenger cars I was shocked at the $35-$40 price tags. But after considering all the work to bring a Rivarossi/AHM car up to the same standards I decided it was a bargain. True they have now starting including the installation of all the grab irons, but for the $95-$127 price tag I am looking for a bit more improvement in all these things and below....

Still disapointed with the Preiser figures as they use the same set in every car, painted the same in every car. I am getting sick of the fat woman wearhing a peach moomoo and the "twins" in their mustard yellow dresses. This is the same paint scheme they had on the original El Capaitan people 15? years ago. How hard can it be to change the paint color every year? Also the interiors are not painted. Just tan plastic. So going to have to open them anyway (and probably break a roof tab or two). Take OUT the people, repaint everything, put headrest covers on the chairs, pillows on the beds, table cloths, food on the tables, some clutter of newspapers and the like. Since I have the car open I'll rework the lighting so lights are actually in a rooms and hallways not just glowing in the whole car. Maybe make a room or two dark. Add window shades pulled down, etc. My heavens that is 40 hours worth of work. What did I PAY hundreds of dollars for???
