Received a package from a longtime friend out east(South Jersey). An AF 0-6-0 locomotive & tender, as well as some box cars, that belonged to his father. His dad had a room-sized layout in what I imagine was originally a dining room, as it was right off of the kitchen & living room. The Dr Pepper car is a MTH, the PFE appears to be an Athearn blue box & the others seem to be AF as well. It hit me in the feels when my buddy told me that he was gifting them to me, because his dad always treated me like family & my friend felt that his dad would want me to have them.

More decals came in today..... 1st another Bay Line set mixed in with VT. Next is a set of Allis-Chalmers. Having lived in WI from '74 to '85 just 20 miles west of MLW. I am planning on paying a homage to my pops he worked for them and stayed 38 years before retiring even when it be came Siemens-Allis to Siemens. So I have a little something planned on my layout for those decals.

I also acquired these a little while ago.....different road numbers. I am settling on my North interchange to definitely being from Wisconsin. I have not made up my mind as to what RR will service this for me yet. Tough decision for me lol. Will explain on my JRs UPPR thread. So head over there shortly if ya interested in reading about it.

3rd box car notice the decal on the "Packers"! 😁

Well I am waiting for snail mail to deliver 3 more sheets of decals for the RS-1 project. Should be here mid-week next week it's coming from Iowa.
While watching a few youtube videos tonight I was browsing the Evilbay.....and lo behold I saw something I hadn't seen in a while at a nice low bidding price. A Kato #37-10D Union Pacific NW2 Switcher Phase I # D.S. 1003 in the 1st paint scheme black with the Road of the Challengers logo on one side and the Serves All The West logo on the other side. Starting bid was 40 bucks with shipping at 10 bucks. Well I won at 46. I did good. It will go well on the layout after I install a decoder in it. Can't wait to get my hands on it! These units usually go over 100 bucks. So I feel I did pretty good here. Here are some stock photos until I get it here. Then I will take some pics of it on the layout.

Ya'll have a good weekend coming up! I will be in the woods tomorrow looking for that fat doe I saw a while ago, gotta get busy and fill my tags.

Some of you may wonder why did UP have this scheme and when?

The EMC demonstrator 889 was built in October 1939 and sold to UP as their D.S.1000 in March 1940. The road number included "D.S." (for Diesel Switch) as part of the railroad's locomotive identification scheme which reflected UP's desire to segregate its "motorized" locomotives from its steam locomotives.

UP NW2s D.S.1000 to D.S.1035 were delivered in UP's original black switcher paint scheme. The locomotives using this paint scheme were painted black with yellow striping (white on D.S.1000) and yellow lettering, with "Serves All The West" in yellow on the left cab side and "Road of the Challengers" in red on the right side. UP D.S.1000 originally had a multi-colored "Overland" shield on its cab sides for a short period of time. All UP switchers (EMD, ALCo, F-M, and Baldwin) in the black switcher scheme were repainted to the later standard yellow and gray scheme beginning in mid 1947 and used the now standard red-with-black edging lettering. The original cab-side slogan of "Road of the Challengers" was changed to "Road of the Streamliners" at the same time.

Here's a nice picture of a few units at the round house......

Well I was bidding on a set of woodchip hoppers and went as high 125 bucks.... this set included (2) 61 foot hoppers in the Bay Line scheme. I lost bummer. Next time I guess I should of went for broke as these are extremely hard to find. I have one hopper but wanted to get this set. Better luck next time. :(
