Once again another supplier exposed!

I want to thank all you guys that share pictures of your latest purchases.

I like to scratch build and embellish structure kits. After a while you (me) get
trapped into the same suppliers, same vendors - same offerings, etc. I guess I haven't figured out
how to present my question in computerize... This forum has offered up several suppliers that
I've previously been unaware of. I'm filling my bins for winter time builds.

It was the very intent when I started this thread was to see the variety of materials, supplies, products etc and where they came from and such. I wanted to do this for some time now...... well now here we are.....so you are very welcome. But really my biggest thanks to all the guys and gals that participate on this forum. It's always a pleasure being here! Keeps the hobby interesting and growing and learning.....

drum roll...........brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr and so we finally have the arrival of the Atlas RS-1 MB&H (Mill Brook & Highland) #4401 Chopped nose! It came all way from Lisbon, New Hampshire. JRs UPRR is leaning hard to re-number this unit to #913 ASAB. After a review of this unit. JRs UPRR management made a short list of items that may grow but here what we know so far:

For JTEX work order ;)

1. Relocate the break wheels
2. Remove the headlights on the nose.
3. Relocate the horns
4. Add fire cracker
5. Add window visors.
6. Raise the front window pane and add splitter.
7. Remove rear head light and replace with dual lens. (JRs UPRR may add LEDs)
8. Strip & Re-paint
9. Decal
10. Weathering

Color is Floquil 110040 RR Dark Green the yellow stripe color is currently unknown. Although JRs UPRR has all of the decals needed currently and sample pictures of unit #913.

For JRs UPRR work order:

1. Add DCC decoder
2. Add flashing beacon
3. Add LEDs

Well I decided to order one of these Athearn RTR Timken box cars. I got it at 12 bucks plus 6 dollars shipping. Normally these run 24 bucks plus shipping....so I lucked out. Snail mail dropped it off yesterday. The only disappointment I have are the inoperable doors. To say the least this will be the only one I buy unless I find it for a even lower price which may be unlikely. Anyhow here it is......

it did come with metal wheel sets and the cheap version of knuckle couplers.

That's it for now. Hope ya'll having a good weekend.

I've been studying A LOT lately, and that's leading to me turning my freight car collection on its head as I realize I should have a thousand more MILW cars than I have. At about 100 freight cars (mind you, i'm a clubber!) I figure 30 of those should be MILW boxcars, generally Ribsides.

So I had to buy a sweet new Tangent 40' hi-cube boxcar to handle all my appliance dealers.

Related, but not shown, Hennepin Overland club fixed me up with three issues of 1970's BN Power Annuals and several issues of "The Mainstreeter" from the NP heritage group. I also bought a couple issues of 'The Diamond' from the Erie historical group as well for articles on the EL's TOFC business with UPS.

I've recieve a lot I won on Ebay, something caught my attention on the box... it comes with yellow tape from DHL "repacked" marks... I've opened and 25 of 30 rail cars were absolutely wet... Card boxes are so damaged It cant hold the cars inside now they are dry... and some oxid appears too. I ask DHL for a refund, but they say I have to contact seller... and seller dont answer my emails...
Funny thing is that my box get a rainy day in miami while it was at the airport tarmac...

Steve: I saw in your footnote that you model the Minnesota, Northfield and Southern Railroad a line that most folks aren't too aware of the railroad and that it was once part of the SOO Line.

Go Milwaukee Road.

Sure, you betcha! I live near Lakeville, MN, and the old Dan Patch line. I also used to work in Lakeville's Airlake industrial park, home of the MNS successor Progressive Rail. I saw their switchers working the park many times.

Being that I model MILW in the 1970's with a focus on Minnesota, MN&S is right in my wheelhouse.

Anyway, I'm beginning to deal with this piggyback lot I bought up. I've sorted out the non-1970's cars and I'm slowly going through the trailers. I've added four more flats to the mix so I can start replacing what I've sold.

Those are nice I love Piggybacks

The mailman brought two packages today! Three more of the GN books:

(Still missing GN Pictorial Vol 5)

The second package had two TOFC sets. These are the Athearn RTR cars and someone added some weight and weathering to them.

The flatcars have a built date of 54 and I know TOFC service started before 1958, so all I'll need to do is change the reweigh date to 57 or 58 and they will fit in.
