Good afternoon this beautiful Wisconsin Friday. Retail therapy was an in-person experience today. The LHS is celebrating 18 years and the owner is in his 50’s and plans to be around. Anyway 30% off most everything in the store except Lionel and the Walthers Proto line.
So instead of online therapy I went direct to one of the sources. Came home with 15 pieces of Rolling Stock but I will only show the 3 I purchased for me. The other 12 items are weathering projects hopefully to be sold between Thanksgiving and the New Year. Rapido, Walthers Mainline and Atlas were the others. Those will appear in the Continous Weathering thread I have in the Weathering forum here!
I also did a fairly good job of on his Evergreen styrene rack. I usually buy only what my projects use as he is only 4 miles away I can drive there anytime but at 30% off why not. I do build quite a few structures every year as the paper mill is always influx! Plus backdrop facades are easy to sell and package nicely. The rods and tubes are for a commissioned project.
I never seem to have enough angle iron
the 4530 and 2080 siding is mainly for my paper mill projects but all the sheet will supplement my own inventory
I thought I brought 5 tanks but can only find the 4 and I will check the trunk of the car. The price was so right and I can always use tanks in the paper mill. Those are from his estate purchases but fit what I need

The last of my orders came today. Six more grain cars from Scale Trains to weather, plus the 4 in getting decaled. Busy days ahead.

I made it to a show at the state fairgrounds this past weekend, hosted twice a year by a local RR museum. I had been looking forward to it for a few months and was glad to see an increasing number of tables compared to the past two years. However, I was a little disappointed as there just didn't seem to be as much variety and deals. Still can't walk out empty handed, you know?
I stumbled across a Athearn GP60B, I think these have been out of production for several years now. Once I convert it to DCC, this should work nicely with the 4-pack set of ATSF GP60M's I have from Fox River.
I didn't particularly need the BN boxcars, but they'll work with a number of auto parts box cars I already have. I was actually circling that vendor's table for quite some time, trying to find something to cut a deal with. He's a regular at these shows, I've bought stuff from him before, and half of his table area is railroad memorabilia, paper, signs, and maps. I spotted a map I wanted, and needed something else that I could do a combo deal on.
Here it is, a Soo Line 1947 map of their Terminals in the Twin Cities. I've seen digital images of these maps online, but never in person before. I'll eventually frame it and put it up somewhere. Oh and I got some wheelsets too.

Feeling frustrated. Just found out that the one day some one chose to break into the mail box was the day that they USPS delivered my Walther's ML-8 Burlington Northern - Yellow 
Haven't seen any others around for a price I'm willing to pay. So if yo happen to see it running around the pawn shops, etc.... let me know. Pretty sad that I didn't know until I question the Post Office and a contractor followed up saying oh yeah the box was broken into 2 weeks ago. Sorry we didn't tell you. To top it off sounds like the hobby shop didn't insure it for the full package value so we'll see if they make good on that.
Fortunately they didn't get the Walther's Wood Chip cars that I have been wanting for a long time and found on eBay. I thought they were a little over price but I've never seen them available before. Also found a Diamond Scale Const. Southern Pacific wood kit that ended up being 3 cars (or almost 3. I haven't inventoried the pieces but there appears to be tripples of almost everything.

Got home this afternoon and this was on my doorstep, in the rain.
Ordered this a few days ago. Over the past decade or so, told myself I would prolly never own one but after seeing the project that another member here presented, I just had to have one.
No decoder in it because I wanted to use my own ESU decoder then download a project file from ESU project section.
This will certainly fit well with my broad radius curves and mile long trains.
Heck, I'm already considering a second one.
Ordered this a few days ago. Over the past decade or so, told myself I would prolly never own one but after seeing the project that another member here presented, I just had to have one.

Got them off ebay, (Amazon also has them I think) Gaugemaster Scenics, 3 images total is 12" X 108" and makes one continuous backscene

These are requests for less expensive cars to be weathered. I always thought my weathering rates were a bit below the going rate but this is from a guy who sent me 25 pulp cars to weather last year. So I found some less expensive Bachman covered hopper cars. These should sell quickly. I will be adding new 36” Walthers Proto steel wheels, #148 Kadee couplers, weight and the yellow safety reflector tape. These should be ready around Thanksgiving and will hit the Sell page here and Facebook. Should go for about 48 with shipping to USA addresses
For me I purchased some more coil cars. Ordered 6 received 1 and I am not happy. I always put on the order no back orders and the shops I buy from have always followed that. I left a phone message this morning.
A Scaletrains Rivet counter product for $40 which believe or not is an excellent deal. Also came with coils and I wasn’t expecting that. 4 for me 2 to weather and sell. These should be done after the New Year.
My birthday is the 29th and while I don’t need a reason to buy for myself as online retail therapy is a release valve for me, my wonderful spouse said to buy my own present! I will be doing that in a few minutes after I bring up ”the list”.

These came today. These (2) are from The Amarillo Railroad Museum on ebay. I may get 4 more of these. They are really nice! NMRA weight is correct as well! Details are great!
