Mail Call! Railway Post Office, commonly abbreviated as RPO has rolled in!

Are you going to use these on your railroad or are they going to remain in their boxes. They look very collectible.
Ya know they're people who would have these left in boxes as collectibles but I will be opening these but will be keeping the packaging as clean and undamaged as possible. Another words the boxes will be well kept. I am not overly concerned with losing any value as these will retain that. I don't think they will increase. Anyways I will keep searching for more of these and if I stumble on another that is a duplicate I will buy and store it.

That’s what makes you a model railroader! I would run them too. They look really nice!

…but I had to ask.😁

Hits keep on coming with a few surprises!

These all came today. I am home early today from work in a few moments I am off to the train room to run some new stuff! Today is overcast and rainy. Left work early due to massive server failure. IT crews working on putting in a new system and it will take a day and a half. So here we are!

So up first is a shocker for me! I have never seen these sets before by Athearn/Roundhouse "The Operator's Choice" 3 pack of hoppers.... I got this set for 75 bucks and I am very pleased with the quality and details for the money!

I got this little gem on the whim! I still like the old school stuff and for the money it was good and makes good filler for the train's consists! A little weatheriung will make it a great car! I may upgrade the stirrups and ladders.....

Those are great cars. I use PWRS when all else fails in the USA. Ordered my UP Gensets from them as the price was one of their rare big really good sales. Turned out they had sound and were marked incorrectly and priced wrong so they cancelled the order on me around 2/2022. No problem since they caught it before shipping

Ok, if this is the wrong place, too bad it's here anyway...lol

The haul from the Estate Sale

First is a Holgate+Reynolds city block (#606) kit:
20220728_120746.jpg

Then a Roundhouse building kit (#1-01 Single Story Brick)
20220728_120754.jpg

Then a couple of Suydam & Co. Kits (#1 Corrugated Metal Furniture Factory and #76 Ed's Market)

20220728_121111.jpg

The corrugated kit requires soldering, definitely something different.

Then the previously described BB kit and the hobby tools.

Things I can use.

The coil car was a trade for a weathered pulp car. This is a Walther's car from the discontinued Gold Line. Much nicer then I was expecting. I have a couple coil cars coming from Exactrail that better be much much nicer then this car since they cost more then double this one

Tsumani2 from Soundtraxx. I got one last week and put it in a MP15AC from Athearn Genesis. I love the sound, IMO the operating feel is very similar to the ESU4 it replaced. So I ordered 3 more, here is one of them. The Tsumani2 so far is much easier to program then the ESU units

you will have to do a side by side comparison for us. I have 3 exact rail to build still myself.
Gary, I have 3 other Exactrail cars on the layout. They are wonderful cars, roll great, have great weight, are very detailed and just look great. I can compare the 2 brands of coil cars side by side but Walthers did a fine job with the coil car I have. I have 2 from Exactrail enroute. The Walthers car is not heavily detailed but it is good enough and this car does roll great and has good weight. 5 of these in a manifest would be fine. When switching as that is what I like, I prefer the more detailed cars.

I have some of the Scaletrain, com rivet counter cars, some Exactrail, Tangent, BLMA prior to Atlas buying them, a few Intermountain and a couple Athearn Genesis cars. For the money value I put them in my order.

I like WaltersProto cars if I can find good to great sales. Without a better then 20% dupiscount the value is not there, IMO. Accurail is 1/2 my 24 car covered hopper fleet and the value can’t be beat. They make great unit train cars. I have some BB left and a few Roundhouse. I am trying to upgrade the fleet and not exceed 70 cars on the layout. I prefer all cars be used on the layout and not in a drawer.

Stopped at a LHS in Plover, WI yesterday after a brutal vision therapy session and picked up a couple pieces of rolling stock.

Two more cars showed up from HomeShops LLC. These Tangent cars in private freelance road names have been super well done.
A0DD71CF-2833-433F-9D15-207F6EE0661D.jpeg

They were inspected out of the box with no broken details. Placed on the layout for the 1st photos and are heading next to the weathering bench

I now have 4 cars from HomeShops with a possibily of rounding out the grain car unit train with a few more

I currently have no other deliveries scheduled. Maybe more retail therapy in the next few days

It’s never a good sign when you forget what you ordered. Today an order showed that I had forgotten about.
