M1 Abrams tank options

I'm Blunt..
I there?

I think there's a Roco model and Matchbox had the Real Working Rigs that looks close. Does anyone have a comparison of the two, or a scale size of the matchbox?

I have seen several different places that carry them in 1/87th scale. Just try doing a google search on 1/87th scale M-1 Abrams. Here are three that I found.

I think you'll find that Matchbox is 1/64th or 1/72 scale. A little on the big size either way. I've looked at some to use on my layout but pased because of that.

Since the M-1 tank is about 50 years in the 1/87th future on my layout, I can't use one. However, I have several flatcar loads with tanks on them. Two of these are M4A3-E8, so-called "Easy Eights" used in Korea (no, I didn't serve there...I was only 8-10 at the time). On another flat is the chasis and turret of a Russian T-34. The chasis shows signs of fire around the turret ring, and if you look close you can see a 1/87 hole where a high-velocity 76mm HEAT round penetrated. The other T-34 is intact. Seeing what happened to their comrades, the crew of the other tank bailed out and surrendered! Now, these are being transported to an unspecified desert proving ground for analysis vis-a-vis the two Shermans. Can't recall whose models these are, either Herpa or ??? I feel there should be some small stories on my model pike. Like the crap game going on in the alley with a cop around the corner directing traffic. Or the hobos down in the "jungle" waiting to "nail a drag" for parts unknown. Or the crowd, including a 6-year-old boy on his Daddy's shoulders waiting to see President Truman come through on the "Whistle Stop Special" in 1948. (And my Dad was probably the only Republican in Cook County, Illinois! ;) But he thought I should see the president! )

I have four of the Matchbox Real Working Rigs, Abrams on my layout, which I use as flatcar loads. They work out slightly undersize for HO scale, but not noticeably so.
Matchbox are supposedly stopping producing Real Working Rigs, so if you want any,get them when you see them.

Ron, they've been gone here for over a year, the newer ones like the Stryker are starting to disappear there now
