I am just getting my HO collection going and figuring out the whole new world of DCC. I have some Bachmann loco's right now that I'm sure are not the best quality. I just bought them because they have DCC. I now am looking to get some high quality locos. Looks are important, but above looks I want the best running locos available. I want DCC and Sound. I am happy to buy separate components to do this, just need to know which deconder and locos go well together. I have 15" turns so I can't go bigger than 4 axle locos (2 axles per truck). They need to be Conrail. Any thoughts? Thanks for the help!

Athearn is coming out with a gp15-1 with prototypical details for Conrail in there Genesis line, should be out soon and it looks great from the photos I have seen. Athearn also has a retooled sw1500 out in Conrail paint that looks awesome but you would have to add the sound yourself. Athearn also offers a real nice Conrail gp35 in it's rtr line that while you do have to add the sound yourself it is a real good looking model imo.

Unfortunately there is not a huge selection of sound equipped 4 axle locos out there for sale, most require you to add it yourself.

The Athearn RTR line makes alot of freight locomotives, most of which are DCC Ready meaning all you need to do is plug in a decoder of your choice... If your interested in new engines, let me know and I can offer you my prices on specific items your looking for

Atlas had a few releases last year of GP38, GP40, UB23, C420, and C424. All but the C424 are available in sound (I have several of the GP40's and a GP38).
