Looking for a price opinion

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if anybody could tell me how to go about selling these, and how to figure out how much to ask for?
They are brand new in their original boxes and foam.
Thanks in advance.

Victor.

Be ready to be disappointed. My suggestion is head over to Brasstrains.com and sign up for the free login.

Once you are approved, it may take 15 minutes, do a search for each locomotive you have and write down those prices. You can email them asking if they are interested in buying them from you or sell them for you on consignment.

Once you have their response. They used to offer maybe 33% of what they would sell it themselves. I have no clue how they are paying now. Head over to your search engine and type in boo Tim brass locomotive and the wheel arrangement. Hopefully you may find recent sales for that locomotive.

Finally, I used to belong to some brass sales groups online, they may still exist but my last brass locomotive I sold was before Covid. Do a search for brass trains sales or something similar.

Just a heads up. You maybe asked for proof of ownership. If you don’t have the sales receipt just be prepared with an answer. I sold my brass one at a time and it took years at one a month. If you find a group site to sell at don’t overwhelm the site with multiple listings. 2 and maybe 3 but not more, add them in as you sell one.

This is the page of 2-10-2’s, 39 listings but no boo-rim to compare.

You can’t compare though between Manufacturers of brass locomotives do not work that way

Best in your search and sale efforts

Thank you. I will check them out.
You mentioned not to overwhelm sales groups. Could I just list them on Amazon or Ebay if I find out what they go for?

E.

You could list them here and save a bunch of extra fees (no fees) and extra hassle

PS: Those are some sweet models there, .......they should bring a pretty good price?
Thanks Beiland,

I checked it out and it looks like good place to start listing them. Yes, they are very pretty. The one thing I am having the most trouble is figuring out the asking price. I will see what I can find out.

I don't know how to do it, but I think there is a way to look up some history of their selling prices on ebay, and some other sites.

That brass collectors site does NOT appear to be just a sales site? Perhaps asking some questions there might bring interesting suggestions? https://groups.io/g/BrassCollectors/messages

A search thru this site might just be a good thing,..

...maybe search thru their brass guide,..

I did check brasstrains.com. The last time they sold the modelss I have was 4-6 yrs ago and the sold price shown there is not current. I signed up at that other website and was looking for a "new post" button but could not see it. I'll try again tomorrow. Thanks!

Damn. they make the model shit out of brass...
sick.

depends on how new they are ... most will probably need re lubing, and some will need new foam
prices as shown [on brasstrains] are are 'high retail' and unfortunately are seldom realized by the average seller ..
