I've been working on my Walthers coal mine, and before I glue the roof on, I want to wire it up for lighting. I bought some yellow LEDs (no one REALLY has white lights), but they don't emit enough light to really light the structure.
What do you guys use for structure lighting?
A friend of mine uses LED Christmas tree lites. Also, you can use Grain of Wheat bulbs like they use in a loco for the headlite. Sometimes it takes a lot of bulbs to lite a large building. It helps to put tin foil above the bulbs for better illumination. I've also used small mirrors for a better reflection like comes in a ladies compact that I get at a Dollar tree.
I use grain of wheat bulbs with a resistor to reduce the voltage to what I need. LEDs seam to direct light better forward rather than out? IMO the grain of wheat bulbs look more prototipical. I also run plasticstruct tubes up the walls to route the wires to reduce the "cob web" look of hanging wires.

I noticed that last night, thought about hanging all the LED's like lamps would be normally hung for a "pointing down" illumination...but I really just wanted an overall illumination.
