I love that town Jim, especially all the trees. You did a nice job with that. I have add some trees to my new city. Pawling, NY were I was born had lots of trees in town.

This is only a tenth of the size/detail of what Jim has, but this part of my layout bears the closest resemblence to a "town" - a bunch of Merchants Row kits.

Nice detail Ken. The buildings and signs look great. The poles are fine, but what's wrong with that one wire?

.., but what's wrong with that one wire?

Which wire are you asking about George? If you mean the "heavy" cable hanging midways up each pole, I had a heluva time modeling that; its suppose to be the twisted cable used for phone lines (the top wires are for electricity).

I've decided that when I rebuild my layout I'm gonna skip the wires completely. I'm always snagging them with my hand or shirt sleeve, and they're a bear to clean when they get dusty.

Ken I know that modeling utility wires isn't easy. I'm only 64, I haven't got to that yet. Maybe when I'm 80 I'll be ready.

i don't do light pole wires either. Did once & I broke more than I put up. I was going to put up 4 diff. pictures of my city, but here it is in an aerial.:D

I'm planning a big change to that area this summer.

Jim - good to see an overall photo of your town. i ve only seen bits and pieces up till now

CSX road slug - your streets are remarkable. care to share your technique-

Ok here's my city of Neenah Wi. (nothing like the real place) Lot's of details and finishing planned but most of the basic pieces are in place. Only the El' line I'm constructing off site is missing. I think I succeeded in getting a big city feel in a minimal foot print. I hope it provides the inspiration you're looking for.

Your take on the "windy" city?

Wow, some great pics there, I see the bar has been raised!
Here's downton Mallory, such as it is. It resides on top of the 1 1/2 turn helix.
I guess I really should try to concentrate on finishing one thing at a time and not get distracted by
um...

Pix of the Old Town area that is being re-vitalized after the RR built yards right at the edge of what use to be a thriving downtown area. The billboard is an early attempt of subliminal advertising :]
