I am just starting to plan/build a modualar paper mill layout. First off I was wondering about flextrack. How do you connect flex track together? I've seen people solder but I'm not to sure how this is done or if rail connecters are the way to go. Secondly is flextrack the way to go? I am using atlas code 55 and the size of the bench is 6' x 30". Any comments would be great as I am fairly new to model railroading. thanks
I model HO and I use NS flex track and rail joiners. I dont solder every joint but most of them. If you want you can solder a wire on both sides of the joiner so you can cut it apart easily later. Good Luck
Flex track is the way to go. You can do a lot that sectional track cannot. You do want to use a joiner, and you can smooth the joints of your curves a lot better of you solder the track before you lay it. But mostly soldering is for electrical conductivity.
