Kato SD38 interchangable dynamic brakes?

Hello fellow train enthusiasts. Does anyone know if you can pop off the dynamic brakes on top of the Kato SD38's and pop in a flat section? Does Kato provide the extra center piece? I notice some UP models have it, some don't.
 
Yes, you can pop the dynamic off and replace it with the non-dynamic hatch. The catch is, Kato is sold out of the part you need!
 
You can fill in the hole with styrene if you want a locomotive without dynamics but you'll have to repaint and decal the whole engine to have it look good. At least it's not as bad as the old Athearn BB geeps, where you had to grind and file off the dynamic brake blister while trying not to ruin the details surrounding it. That was a a real ball. :)
 
Kato is sold out of the part you need!

that seems to be kato's down fall limited run's and no spare parts
