I wanted to get some intermodal well cars for my HO line and was liking the KATO ones.
However, I'm a bit confused with them and the website is no help.
They are $60 street and they offer three different road numbers but was not sure if that was for only 1 well car or the set of 3?
Is the set of 3 considered one road number?

If they are $60 dollars each (only 1 well car), that is a bit steep seeing as how I have only paid that much for highly detailed passenger cars with lighting.

Each KATO set contains 3 cars. They consider it one car and call each set a unit. Each set you listed has a different number. Usually on the prototype, the 3-unit cars will never be dis-assembled and they will remain a 3-unit car...

The ones I have are from the first run. I am willing to let them go for $52 Each plus shipping.

You got me at a bad time as far as money goes.
If your willing to let one of them go, I will take it.
I understand if you want to get rid of them as a set of 3.

Josh,
I read over your post on Model Railroad tips and wanted to know if you feel the IM/A-Line is better or not? Seems you think so but didn't say and wow do you have a few cars in the closet.

The KATO BNSF ones come with the cross logo.
How long was that used?
Meaning, what time period does that put these Maxi IV's at?
What does BNSF currently use?
I have not seen any well cars with the swoop logo.

The cross logo was part of their older logo. The new logo is known as the "Swoosh" or "Wedge" logo, and yes the newer well cars do have these newer "Swoosh" logos. I see a good mix of the older and newer ones around here running from the Port of Long Beach and LA up to the Cajon Pass

These are what the older cross logos look like:

And the newer "Swoosh/Wedge" logo:

I like the IM due to the scale coupler pocket, however I dislike the fact that IM did not include proper trucks.

The Kato is nice, but the molded walkways are too old school for me.

In the end, I prefer the IM version because it has less correcting involved...
