Kadee Couplers...lubrication

I believe I read somewhere that a person recommended to place a tiny drop of lubricating oil on the top of Kadee trip pins to improve operation. Has anyone tried this somewhat new method to improve Kadee coupler operation? Sounds like it may work.

Opinions.

Thanks.

Terry, true about the possibilities of the oil attracting dirt, but it should work its way down into the pin and coupler housing. I would wipe the off top of the coupler after the lube has had a chance to work its way down.

I use KD Grease'em in the coupler pockets to lube the shaft for improved side to side movement. But, I did purchase some lock graphite at the local hardware store for less than half of the Grease'em. The lock graphite is in a tube very much like the Kadee product.

Thanks.

Graphite would probably be better, it's dry, and won't attract dirt and get gummed up.
That's what Kadee Grease'em is.

Yup! That's what I used simple key/lock or hobby ultra fine graphite powder. It works great! No oils on my couplers. I even put graphite powder in the coupler box too!
