That's a rare find, especially in the east. Too bad it's not sitting on its trucks.

Just thought I'd throw this in here....a current project on the layout.
These are the Dalton packing sheds. I wanted a way to keep them in place but be able to remove them, if needed, easily.
They are spaced apart so any car at any shed can load from any door.
I picked up some 3/16 (id) styrene tube, cut it to length, and then sanded the corners of three pilings for each building, until the tube slipped over the piling.
With the building spacing set, I took a felt tip pen and marked three outside corners of each building. Now I painted the ends of the pilings that take a tube, with finger nail polish, matched up the outside corner marks, and set the building down to mark were to drill for the tubes.
Because I'm using three tubes per building, alignment makes a difference. I drilled the holes in the foam over size, and used liquid nails adhesive, it has lots of working time, and when it dries, it is solid. When everything was dry, I painted the tubes dark brown.
Here are the buildings with the tubing installed.
Did you notice that most all the doors are open? Except door six. Since a car can load at any door, then the other door would be closed.
I'm experimenting with Microscale's Micro Liquid Tape. It says parts can be separated and reapplied many times. Of course, the key here would be cleanliness. I applied a strip of "tape" down the two long sides of the door, none on the building. This door has been "taped" there for about a month now.......

Is anybody familiar with Railfan Dan and his videos? His recent video, The Final Train On the Siskiyou Line, Weed Ca to Medford Or. shoes a tank car at the old station stop (SP) of Grenada. Well, that barely an hour away, so I grabbed my friend Greg, and we headed down there to investigate.
A three dome tank car with reporting marks SCMX 657, a shell oil co car. It's setting on a piece of track that goes nowhere. and the knuckle part of the couplers have been removed on both ends.

The Patent Date plate indicates 1941. I could not find a stenciled build date on the car, printing was either painted over or was badly faded.
Check out the ajax logo at far right.
This switch stand sets at the head of a little stub track that goes from here to the highway, about two hundred feet.
Check out the wood planks inserted at the top of the springs. All four corners had them. On the left end of the truck side frame, there are cast numbers 10-45. I believe this is a manufacture date (for the side frame), can somebody verify this? Thanks! The picture does not convey the amount of dried grease on the dish of the wheels.
Here is the Grenada Depot were the tank car sits.

This is from a recent trip to New England. Place is Walpole, New Hampshire and a former site of Steamtown long time ago. The RDC is sitting at the end of the track and a sharp eye will detect New York Central lettering shadows above the windows. The NYCRR has been gone since 1968, when it and its old rival Pennsylvania Railroad were merged to form ill fated Penn Central:

I'll follow the last caboose with this one....
This venerable piece of railroading history is on the back side (west side) of Train Mountain at Chiloquin Ore.
The area looks bare of brush because it is. A fire cleaned things off a couple of years ago..... SP 1967 came thru in pretty good shape....

The UP Modoc Northern tracks run in front of the house, so at times, I have an opportunity to see what goes by while they're taking cars to service the customers along the line. I saw them take this car down, and make a note that I needed to go get some photos of it. I didn't make it out to get photos, but a couple of days later, I heard the coming back, so as an off chance that they had the car, I grabbed my phone, and sure enough they had the car, and I got these pics as it was going away.
Although I was going after the WP hopper car, I did catch this CNW car ahead of the WP car....

A great catch! Its amazing what fallen flags are still out there in original paint.

Just thought I'd throw this in here......
I did some camping on the Umpqua River last weekend, made a side trip to the CORP (Central Oregon & Pacific RR) yard in Roseburg. They had these rock cars ready to go. We called these cars, dinosaur cars, because they are old, big, and will hurt you trying to get the drop doors to operate. After so many years, the linkages, brackets & hardware gets bent, rusted and deformed.....
Check out the grab irons on the near end of the SP car......
