I decided yesterday that I had two many empty flat cars and went looking through my junk box to see what I might possibly have to make some loads. A side trip to the arts and crafts store to pick up some elastic line for the strap down cables and this is what I ended up with.

That's a great variety of loads George, nice work.
Nice looking loads from a junk box, George. I like the painting and tiedown details as well.
Good Work! Flats with loads make for some of the most interesting cars in a train...
Good job. Weathered and everything.
Attaching the cables
Thanks all. I did the cars kind of quick. I guess the key was solving how to fasten the cables. I fasten them in 2 different ways. Method 1 was to drill a very small hole just under flat car deck so it would be hard to see. Then I put the elastic line in the drill out hole and glued it in place. After it dried I stretched the line over the load and then over the hole drilled on the opposite side and then clamped it in place. Then I took a very very small piece of plastic rod and pushed the line in the drilled out hole and glued that in place. This was the hardest part. Later I cut off the small plastic rod that’s on the one side of the car, cut it flush and then painted over it. The second way was to locate the drilled out holes lower on the car frame. I did step one the same but when I stretched the line to the other side I was able to just pull the line through the lower drill out hole, claim the line under the car and glue it without the small plastic rod I used in step one. If you look at the first load the metal tank you can see the lower position of the cables on the car. This way is much easier but if you look hard you can see how the cables are attached.
