I jumper all my engines. My steam engines all ready have their own jumpers so why not jumper the diesels. I use the Minitronics micro connectors to do the job which takes about 15 minutes to install. They run way better this way even though unlike the F7's in the photo below you can't hide the connectors on most engines as well as you would like to. The people that come over to see the trains run don't even notice. The GP 38's I bought only cost $49.00 each. I made one into a dummy then put a 68.00 dollar sound unit in with 2 big baffled speakers and jumpered the 4 units. It runs and sounds great. I can give a little on the detail as long as the engines run well with out any problems. You can see the jumper wires on the F7's below. You have to drill a hole in the doors big enough to fit the connector heads through.

An idea! Could the jumpers been a light gauge wire to be place at the bottom to look like MU cable from unit to unit???
It may be a silly question, but why not let the lead engine have it's own decoder and let the dummy sound unit pull power from the track?
Uh, you lost me somewhere. I'm not sure why you are "jumpering" the units. Is it because they are all dummys and you are jumpering power for sound decoders or speakers?
I'd assume the jumpering is to allow all 16 axles to draw power for both A units?

That's it Josh.

Hi Miles
Look at the April 2007 photo contest. There's a large photo of the engine.

where did you get the engine details for the gp7?
Hi shaun
The diesel motor is Walthers part # 933-3119 EMD 567 Prime Mover HO $4.98.
The engines doors are just plastic strips painted gray and weathered with an Indian ink mix.
I cut out the original doors. I found some thing that looked like latches in my junk plastic box.

thanks..It sure is a great piece. it would add a nice touch to any engine shed.
