It was so ugly, I just had to model it

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but not many would find CP Rail 5447 attractive. Yet it has a certain kind of appeal, all the same--to me, at least. That's why I just had to model it and add it to my CP Rail Manitoba & Minnesota Subdivision roster. (It doesn't hurt that it fits my time frame perfectly, too.)

You can read about how I made it on my blog, and see a photo of the prototype, at http://cprailmmsub.blogspot.com/

what happened to it???, CP park it in a feild and forget they had it??:D

Good work on a ugly loco;)

Nice work! It highlights a well-known paradox of model railroading, "Ugly is Beautiful". When locos are delivered to their home RR fresh from the factory, they all look the same except the numbers. But the older they get, the more "personality" they acquire - weathering differently according to where and how they were used, and which shop repainted them [if at all]. When I used to go train-chasing on the pre-Chessie B&O, I got to where I could recognize which first-generation geep or F unit I was looking at by its peeling paint pattern. And of course I just HAD to build a model of it..!:D

One of a kind..!!! Way to go..!! That's what's so interesting about this hobby (passion)...You can have something that no one, anywhere, has...And in this plastic, mass-produced world, something unique is rare indeed...;)

Thats SO cool! It looks like they hired a 5 year old kid to repaint the CP logo on the side...but hell, I guess that's what the tough economic times provide

Nice job John

Very nice John!
Do you have a pic of all your ugly locos lashed together? Now that would be a great pic!

Why do I get the feeling that someone was violating Rule G when they painted that "CP" on the side? Nice model of a truly weird looking locomotive. I'd love to take the one down to the club and let the rivet counters have heart attacks. :D
