Getting back on track
I am planning to model a small short line terminal on a 7' x 2' layout and need a turntable that will fit the space and the period. The time is late 40s or early 50s and the imaged road has one small (aging) steam engine and one or two "newer" diesel switchers (the size of a GE 70 tonner). My fictional short line is set in New England and may, from time-to-time, see equipment from other roads such as Maine Central or the B&M. The turntable will be used to turn engines at the terminal but will only lead to a single track engine house. My inspiration is the Woodstock Railway terminal in Woodstock, VT (see RMC, March 2008 for an interesting article). Any suggestions for kits or is this a scratchbuild project?

P.S. The layout is in HO scale.

If you're not looking for the best detailed turntable, Atlas makes a good one that's cheap and about the size you need. Search on "atlas turntables" here and you'll see some good examples on how guys make thier's look pretty good.
