Hello guys,

I need some help trying to figure out what to model. Quick back story, my buddy asked me to be his best man at his wedding coming up in September of 2010. I decided since he works for the local railroad and if he could he'd own his own railroad. So as a gift I have Josh (jbaakko) working on a custom loco for me. and I plan on doing a small diorama for him as a gift.

This will be two locomotives with 4 grain hoppers in tow. My question is what should I model? A country side since we live in Iowa or should i do a small city street in the background. Any ideas?

Is it going to have a background? I vote for an overgrown siding in the country as you could still make it real nice looking without it overpowering the custom locos

I agree with the previous posts. A nice bit of grassy landscape would be a good idea. Maybe with a small farmhouse in the distance, if you'll include a background.

Diorama

What are you giving him? Custom Locos or background. Think about how a museum would present the subject. Don't distract from the subject with a lot of detail. I would just use a simple background to set the scene for your prize object.

i kinda like the ideas presented..i was thinking..a over grown siding like mention with either a small cornfield in the background or a couple cows roaming a grassy field...or just a grassy field.
