Hey, railroad modelers, (sorry for my english, i will try my best), my name is Nibaldo Soto, from Santiago de Chile in south America. I'm pretty honored to submitting in this forum. I'm totally newbie for this hobby, so I´m gonna ask many questions, if you gonna help me, I'm going to be very pleased for your kindness. If i have something to contribute, I'll do it.

So my first question is something basis, I have seeking on model webpages that sell scale models HO, specifically, models of locomotives that currently are running on Amtrak like Lake Shore Limited, Northeast Regional routes, by I'm surprising that there is not much models of this routes. Do I'm wrong or right ?

I have only found Acela Express scale models....

Thanks for your answers !!!

Welcome to the forum.

I don't know muchh about Amtrak, but somebody else will chime in. With my limited knowledge I know that Athearn makes some type of passenger locomotives. Have you checked out thier website? www.athearn.com That's about all the knowledge I have of passenger equipment.

Hello, Nibaldo, and welcome to summer up here in the Northern Hemishphere. Your English is far better than my Spanish so don't let that discourage you. We have another modeler from Chile here by the name of Mike. His screen name is mikeknuckey and he lives in Copiapo City. Great guy and also models North American trains, plus takes some awesome pictures of mineral lines in the Atacama Desert.

There are a number of companies that make trains in the Amtrak paint scheme. Athearn has a new model of the P42 diesel coming out next month. Atlas has a model of the Dash 8-40BHW, which is supposed be out on July 30. Bachmann has a model of FP40H out now in the Amtrak red, white , and blue scheme. I'm not an Amtrak expert by any means but we have some members that are and I'm sure they will chime in. As a place to start looking. I'd try www.walthers.com. They have a very extensive selection, probably the best in the USA. There are other on-line sites that sell for less like Hobbylinc (http://www.hobbylinc.com/prods/u.htm) but you'll have to check their policies about international shipping. I'm sure Mike can help you more with that. At any rate, welcome aboard and glad to have you with us. :)

Pretty much every unit that runs Amtrak has been modeled at some time.

P40, P42 - Athearn
P32BHW - Walthers, Atlas
HHP8 - Bachmann
Acela - Bachmann
F40PH - Bachmann, Life-like (those 2 models suck), Walthers & Kato
SDP40 - Kaslo
AEM-7/ALP44 - Atlas
GG1 - BLI
F's & E's exist from a number of companies too.
