Another new guy to the forum. My name in John and I just wanted to say hello. I have always wanted to build a model railroad. We are buying a new home and I will finally have some room. I have been collecting bits and pieces for some time.

My interest is HO and an era of the 1930's to 1940's I will most likely start with a 4X8 with an extension.

does your name refer to the railroad fireman or the one who enters burning buildings?

My grandfather was a fireman on the CPR prior to WWI. I am the the type of fireman who enters burning buildings. Retired from that now though. I was a brakeman on a tourist RR at one time.

Welcome aboard, Fireman. I'm a retired cop and ran out of burning buildings. If you can provode us with a sketch of the room you have available, we may be able to suggest a better alternative that the traditional 4x8. Post it under the Layout and Construction section so it doesn't get lost.
