Some Railroads like CSX, and Norfolk Southern e.t.c have alternating ditch lights when the horn is blown. But other railroads Ex BNSF do not, if you own a gold series 8-40CW, with a road that does not prototypically have alternating ditch lights and would like to deactivate your ditch lights from alternating when the horn is blown to be more prototypical, you can do this by following a few steps I have listed below.
To Deactivate \ Activate Alternating Ditch lights
QSI (Version 7 or Greater only)
1.) To Find Version Set CV64 = 7, and voice command will acknowledge what version exists in your loco, if version is < 7 QSI upgrade chip must be purchased to activate this function, if not proceed to step two.
2.) Now you must set CV 55.84.1 to 2, to do this you must set the following CV’s CV 49 = 84, CV 50 = 1, CV 64 = 55. Now you will here the verbal announcement, and it should say CV= 55.84.1.
3.) Now Set CV 55 = 2
4.) Press the Prog\Esc button
5.) Engage the Headlight, and accelerate forward
6.) Blow the Horn, and ditch lights should not be oscillating, if so you have successfully completed the disengagement of oscillating ditch light feature. ENJOY!!
