how to move an old railwaystation(building)

Incredible!
Everytime the TV History Channel's "Modern Marvels" (or Discovery) has a segment on Mega movers, I sit back in total disbelief.

Where and why were they moving it? My Dutch is a little rusty:D .

why moving it..

Rex : The building had to be moved because they are "dubbeling "the tracks ( so 4 instead of 2) and it stood in the way..
Because it was of monumental intrest , the "town Houten" decided to move the building 150 metrs to the south( 300 feet)
This station was very important for the little town Houten
How they did it( graphic) just look overhere ...

Awesome work, thanks Jos for sharing that!

Something similar was done with a popular American icon structure: The Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. Except they didn't use a megamover to carry it, that would have been too risky. Instead, they put a series of rails, rollers, and hydraulic jacks under it and moved it really s-l-o-w-l-y (~ 3ft/hr). Anything that tall and narrow would be awfully unstable otherwise...
