How are You Spending the Stimulus Money?

Did you adjust your claimed dependencies when they changed the law? It changed it so people would get the money through the year instead of as a refund at the end. That way they have the money sooner. If one still wants a refund just lower the number of dependents, they will take out more money, and it will be right back how it was. Personally I like having my money sooner because then I can be getting interest on it instead of the government.

I just picked up another Lionel RTR set on eBay, not sure why, but it's on it's way.

Taxes! I don't want to talk about no freaking taxes! ;)

I use to be a news junkie. Now I record old shows and avoid the news as much as possible. I do still skim through the news papers. It's much easier to skip the stories I don't want to read. Before the pandemic I usually had the news on the radio when I was working. I dusted off my CD case and now I'm a happier man. Long Live Rock & Roll!

Even the New York Times has rebuked the media for blatant bias. For the most part the Times tells it like it is, but have they read their own op-ed section!

All I will say is vote! If every citizen would vote we might not have so much to complain about. But I doubt it, I think it's in our nature to complain.

Now back to Hogan's Heroes and my toy trains. I'm happy in my own little world. :)

...

great looking Chessie engine though bruette!!! My most favorite train engine design ever!!!

Thank you, I love those Chessie colors too! Was there ever a more perfect scheme for Lionel O27 trains? I love the 70s. There were many colorful schemes.

You will see in an earlier post, I picked up another Lionel O27 RTR Chessie set on eBay and I got a fantastic deal on it!

I woke up today and I ordered a complete H0 Athearn genesis train... 3 sd-45 plus 40 cars...

Later I've realized that Im not a US citizen, that I dont even live in USA... and I rewoke to reality and close the trainworld web page to keep cleaning de house...

Anyway, I dont have the space for a complete train... LOL!
Stay safe and enjoy your new trains!!!
Regards from Chile

Oh, I have voted in every election sine I turned 18. I actually take election days off from work.

and yeah, I quit reading news papers years ago. I mostly get my world news from over seas entities...BBC, Reuters etc...

but anywho, I learned not to complain years ago...it is wasted energy...I will either get the money, or I won't, and I will adapt

Louis- the way I was raised, participating in the elections is our civic duty as American citizens. My parents were fond of saying, “if you don’t vote, you lose your right to complain about the way the government(be it local, county, state or feds) are running things. If you vote & the candidate you voted for did not win the election, then yes, you do have the right to complain. You did your part. I don’t watch the news(the only thing I watch on regular tv is 1 or 2 shows(Blue Bloods & Tracks Ahead on PBS), especially since there has been no live sports for 6+ weeks. Mostly Netflix & You Tube are the extent of our “tv viewing”. When COVID & polarizing politics are the bulk of social media activity, I’ve been known to take a SM vacation, usually for weeks or even months. Not worth stressing my mental health issues over things out of my control.

Mike, you and I think much alike. Except for TV, my TV is almost always on, unless I have the radio on. Sometimes in every room, ask my wife, she will tell you ;) I turn the sound down when I read. I record old shows on the DVR. This morning it's running episodes of "Highway Patrol" yesterday was "Hogan's Heroes". I don't have to do anything, the DVR automatically plays the next episode, on any of my TVs. My wife and I watch a lot of movies as time permits, she is a busy lady.

I have all the movie channels, except for porno channels, but I'm not judging anybody. I have YouTube, Netflix and more on my TVs through my comcast service. It's so easy, I can even search with my voice remote, even YouTube, Netflix or any service I have. I don't have to get off the couch or find my glasses.

Your parents raised you right! Don't vote, don't complain!

We could all do better with more civics lessons!

Facebook, I don't stress, "I give em hell", in a civil manor, no stress! Nothing better an old street rat likes than a good fight. In a civil debate I can't physically hurt anybody and I don't have to run from the law. I have always been full of "piss and vinegar" all I need is a reason to share it. If I see something stupid I don't get angry, I call it out. I won't say anything I can't verify and back up with facts. Nothing mean spirited, no clever sound bites or funny one liners from me. Like Joe Friday "just the facts". Turns out many of my former so called friends don't like facts, rather than debate with me, they unfriend me, good riddance! Too many people want simple solutions to complex problems they often don't understand. I'm tired of all the stupidity in this country.

The down side of America; our freedom and mostly easy lives allow us the freedom and luxury of being stupid.

The down side of being online; people think they can hide behind their screens and say anything with impunity. Civility is being lost in our civilization and I believe we will all suffer because of it.

I leave my emotions to my family, friends and my toys, they bring happy emotions. I seldom if ever get angry and I'm not aggressive. It takes a lot to make me angry.

Emotions don't make good choices, facts do. I asked one extremely intelligent person why they voted the way they did, the answer was "anger". I was shocked to say the least, because anger does not make smart choices.

My cousin once described me to my wife this way, he said "Louis is a cold hearted, calculating bastard, but in a good way" I think he hit the nail on the head. We mostly grew up together, he knows me about as well as anyone could.

I don't waste my time with talk radio. I have all but given up on overtly biased cable TV news, Fox, CNN and MSNBC they all suck, they can make me angry! Now I understand why Elvis shot his TV. I miss Shepard Smith.

I read the Baltimore Sun, Washington Post and New York Times, I watch a half hour of local news. We watch NBC nightly news sometimes, my wife likes that.

I also listen to NPR and the BBC on the radio in my van, but mostly I listen to music these days.

My favorite reading material is Classic Toy Trains!

During my hiatus from this forum I came to realize why politics is banned. Politics has become so polarizing, we need a sanctuary from it.

I posed several options and my wife decided (and I agree) that we're going to bank it for a bigger family vacation next summer.

We're very lucky in that we're both still working (but from home) and getting paid. My income is down a little bit. To bring it to universal terms, my part-time income disappeared for now. But with expenses cut to pretty much just food and a reduced fuel expense, it works out. We have been trying to order out more on order to support the local restaurants.

Well - Providing we ever receive said funds ... The Spousal Unit will more than likely apply hers to a cruise with her sister next year. I will hold on to mine form a new water heater as I am sure that this one will not last forever being 12+ YO at this time.

EDIT -- Just found out the IRS said I would receive the 15th of the month ... I guess they were tired of me hounding them.
