Hello all. Just joined. Been modeling Conrail for many, many years. Just built a new layout after being out of the hobby for about 15 years. I find myself learning all over again.
This layout needed to be built so it could be disassembled easily and moved. So I built it in 2 foot by 4 foot sections with a few sections being a little bigger.
I’ve been a digitrax user since they started. Still have an original DB100 booster (see pic) and several UT-1’s and UP-1’s and some 20 year old soundtraxx decoders. I laugh when I hear them now, but back then...... For the record, decoders being stored for about 15 years still retained their memory. That surprised me.
I’ll post some pics of my old layout at a later time.
Atlas GP38:
Found this in my box of locos. Brand new undec. Amazingly enough, the old Microscale decals I still have worked well as did most of the Modelflex / Badger paint.
Kato NS C-40-9
This was a CSX C44-9 that I “converted” to a C40-9. Yes there are some small differences but they were acceptable for this build. I did have to buy the correct trucks and a SP shell just for the cab. Filled in the low headlight and moved it to the top. That was a challenge.
Bowser hopper cars. Found a few undec. cars and painted them Conrail. Mixing my own colors was something I never did before. Happy with the results.
Bower RDG hoppers.
Missed buying these when Bowser released them so I made my own. Very happy with the results.
Wow... Very nice!
I had to laugh tho, after your intro I was half expecting tyco locos on a loop of brass track.
Boy did you blow that out of the water!
