The Bier Hall Putsch occurred today in 1923 in München when Hitler attempted to take control of the Government. 20 people died, 15 of them National Socialists, four police officers, and one bystander.
In 1938, Kristallnacht occurred against the Jews across Germany, Austria, and the Sudetenland. Business, homes, hospitals, schools, and synagogues were ransacked and over 30,000 people were arrested. No one paid any attention to what Hitler wrote in Mein Kampf, but they had been warned.
In 1989 the Berlin Wall came down opening East Germany to the West. Earlier in 1989 other border controls were relaxed in Poland and Hungary. This was the beginning of the end of the Soviet Union.
A very busy date in German history.
