Yup, they said that it took off after a NW flight lost a panel.

It was a Continental DC-10 that a strip off an engine cowling fell on the runway. The Concorde hit it and the fuel tank was punctured. The service life of the Concorde was already numbered but this and the events of 9/11 brought down the curtain.
Interesting fact, the fleet of 16 Concordes logged more time in supersonic flight than ALL other aircraft combined.
