J&M shortline is a small R.R. on my layout that is one hour from going bankrupt. It is named for my 2 sons Jon & Michael. If you work for this company you need to be able to multi task. Monday you might be a brakeman, Tuesday a dispatcher And Wednesday an engineer. You are always a mechanic, trackman & whatever is needed. It operates on
very steep grades. Not sure of grades but think around 7%

More on this little railroad in the future
Les, missed this before. Nice Shay and mountain railroad layout. I can see why you need the Shay. Those look like some killer grades.

Thanks Jim, This is part of C&O layout. At the beginning of the video you can see the double track main line of the C&O. Toward the end you can see the J&M yard, take notice to the direction of the switch. There is a Y at the top of the mountain where you turn around to access the yard from the correct direction. This was intentional on my part as to add interest to operations.
very nice-- im not sure how your lighting is set-up, but apparantly you do, on the vid it has the effect of sunlight
Nothing special with the lighting. Just incandescent lights on a valence. I think they are 40 watt at 4 foot intervals.
