I have decided to move my layout from the 10 x 10 upstairs room to my 17 x 21 garage. So far I have the North wall insulated and sheetrocked and part of the West wall insulated. Have to do this one wall at a time due to financial limitations
Got some benchwork set up. This will be the classification yard / visual staging. I decided on 3'6". The upper level will be the coalmine, set at a height of 4'6". I plan on a visual transition between levels since I have the room to stretch out. A 27' long incline to a 12" rise should be about a 3.7% grade. This is gonna be fun

. I will post some pics of my track plan once I figure out how to use the wife's scanner

Wow that's some heavy duty benchwork.A nice, neat job you're doing of it, looks good.
None of my business but any special reason for the 2x4 frame work?
I'd be interested in following your progress so keep posting updates please
Cheers

Actually they are 2x3 which, I agree, is still a bit of overkill, but they are inexpensive and easy for me to work with. Thanks for the compliments

And there will be lots more progress pics and posts to come!
Regards, Steve
Look! Trains! I love it... coal cars as far as the eye can see
Looks good! The only suggestion I would have is to paint the walls before you build benchwork. Much easier and less time consuming.
looks good cant wait to see more.
