Has anybody used Dr. Mikes Forumla 2 super glue? Here is the link to Micro-Mark website. This is supposed to glue Derlin and Accetal resin parts. Anybody use this to repair locomotive detail parts that are plastic?

Jerry;

While I personally have not used it, one of the local MMR's has used it and said that it does work as advertised. After reading the ad, it seems to me that this is a variation of cyano-epoxy formulated glues. It even sounds like an epoxy, "reaches full strength in 24 hours".

Can't speak to your specific product mentioned, but I have used the standard hardware store 2 part epoxy to repair atlas handrails with wonderful results. I don't know the brand name of the product, I inherited several tubes from my dad about 5 years ago, so the name is a bit worn off now, but the stuff has been around forever.

When joining the two broken handrail sections, it leaves a bit of a blob if you put it on too thick. This happened on my first repair, but I waited for it to cure about three hours and was actually able to file down the blob to make it smooth without breaking the repair.

I think super glue type products tend to get brittle over time and lose their adhesion.

Others may have different experiences, however.
