Guilford Rail System GP39-2 #368

My first attempt at modeling a prototype. It's not perfect or 100% accurate to the prototype, but I'm pleased with how it came out. It began as an Athearn blue box GP38-2 and modified to the best of my ability to a GP39-2. It has LED lighting and is wired for DCC. A Kato motor with hex drive and a decoder with sound will be installed next. I hope everyone likes it, I had fun building it and have more on deck.

Honestly, I wouldn't know the difference between a GP38-2 and a GP39-2 to begin with but regardless of that, your loco looks very nice and (to me anyway) very realistic.

Thank you! The differences are subtle.. Dynamic brake housing, inertial filter hatch, larger fuel tank. It would have been easier starting from a GP40-2, but easier isn't as fun.

Looks great to me!

I'm like Tony, I would not know the differences had you not pointing them out.

Thank you sharing your work.

I once heard the GP39-2 described as GP38 equipment in a GP40 body, which while isn't exactly accurate does at least come very close to describing how it looks. And you did a really great job on that one. Nice.

As having lived next to the guilford mainline for years, it looks like
something that would limp thru rockingham jt lol nice work

Here is a D&H GP39-2 that I just finished up. I installed the DCC last night and she runs like a dream. This is an Atlas Trainman unit. This unit later got painted in the Guilford colors.

I see Guilford once in a blue moon in West Boylston MA and that's exactly what it looks like! Amazing job! A+
